Today was the Daytona 500. I watched the last three laps, and they were pretty interesting. Kevin Harvick won. I'm not as big of a NASCAR fan as I used to be. I used to watch the races every Sunday. That sort of went away when I started racing. I wasn't home on Sunday's so just followed up on who won the race on the internet or through word of mouth. I used to be a huge Jeff Gordon fan and even have some of the model car collectibles. One year for my birthday, I had a Jeff Gordon car cake. I'm still a Gordon fan, just not as big. I just found out today that he was married and had a little girl on the way...shows what kind of fan I am! NASCAR is sort of like a road race. It doesn't really get exciting until the end. You get a few crashes during the race, and sometimes at the end in the sprint (or in the Daytona 500, today's wreck on the last lap). Ok enough NASCAR talk.
The Tour of California started today. I still think it's awkward that the major sponsor (Amgen) makes EPO. Jason Donald opened a lot of people's eyes. He held the lead in the Prologue (1.9 miles long) with a time of 4:50.497 until Levi Leipheimer rode a 4:49.050. I have never heard of Jason Donald before until today. Bobby Julich rode a 5:03.221 for 20th place. This guy rides oval chainrings. Chris Horner rode a 5:03.??? Not bad for not being a TT specialist. I haven't found the full results yet so I am not sure where Jason McCartney or Tom Zirbel finished.
Today was a pretty nice day. Even though it was only 30 degrees, the sun and no wind made it feel warmer. I figured out today that I like riding around aimlessly on gravel roads, not knowing where you are. This is especially fun in the timber (helps block the breeze). Time to log the outdoor miles, especially if I'm going to this ---> race.
Spring Break is right around the corner. I'm planning a trip to Colorado to do some exploring. Should be a good time with some good riding. I might even do a race out there. That's all I got for now. Good night!

is it just me or is it pretty depressing that they did the 2mile with a HUGE hill at the end in less time than any of us can do a 2mile roller race?????
