Not much in the way of news today. We drove 5.5hrs to Chambery, France. It's on the eastern side of the country, right near the Alps. We drove by the Mediterrainian Talk about a beautiful drive! I took some pictures, but of course they didn't turn out that good. We got here in time to pre-ride the course.
It's an 8km loop, with a little bit of everything in it. Most of the race is in town, but the backside goes through some country side. It starts going downhill, makes some sharpish corners before leveling out. Then we make a 150degree turn onto another street through some industrial area. The funnest part of the course is the finish. It's uphill! And a sweet climb to say the least. It's not very long - only takes about a minute to climb. But it will make and break the race. I am excited about the race, but a little nervous. Not sure of the skill level over here and how well people handle their bikes. I've heard it's very diverse. Anyway, check back for an update tomorrow night (afternoon for all of you back in the States). Thanks for stopping by! Here's some pictures I took today.
-AA view of the Alps from Chambery.
One of the tunnels we went through. It was long (as you can see in the picture).
Our bikes in the van.
A cool canyon. Picture didn't turn out that well, but you'll have that.
It was a bit chilly when we started out. I was under dressed and had brought my rain jacket. It was still nice though - like 60 something.
