Today we hiked near Mummy Pass. 5 miles up and 5 miles back. Total hiking time was roughly 4.5 hours. We had to be up to the meeting spot by 9:00am, which meant leaving around 6:15am. It was extremely cold in the morning, but things quickly warmed up as we headed up the mountain. Wish I would have worn my heart rate monitor on the hike as it had to be relatively high. Pingree Park sits at around 9000 feet. Our hiking destination for the day was just under 12,000feet. It was a beautiful hike. My legs are sore and I felt like I got a good workout in. Backcountry stuff is awesome. I really want to get a backpack and a tent to do my own adventures with. Words are boring, so here's some pictures!
-AEntering Comanche Peak Wilderness area.
There was still quite a bit of snow in spots. We hiked over some snow fields that had to have been 4 feet deep.
Above treeline. The views are amazing.
This trail goes into the Rocky Mountain National Park.
Looking into RMNP.
Proof that I actually made it up there.
More views into RMNP.
Never ending.
On the way back down, we took advantage of the snow. We put our rain jackets around our waists and slid down. Fun times.
