A Quick Update

This past weekend I did some riding. I didn't go to New Mexico because I needed to study. Ended up getting sick with a cold. Rode Friday and Saturday but the legs felt really bad. I decided to lay low on Sunday and Monday. Saturday I went down to Golden to ride with my teammate, Megan, and a group of other people. As soon as I got out of my truck, we headed up Lookout Mountain. What a way to warm up, especially when two of the guys were riding it in the big ring. Ouch. Needless to say, a few of us opted out of hanging with group (which eventually rode 105miles in 6 or so hours with tons of climbing). I have pictures and will post them eventually.

As for now, my cold is getting better and I'm starting to ride again (at least more intense riding). Excited for my first race this coming weekend. It's in Denver and starts off with an ITT Saturday and crit Sunday. Should be good times.

While in Golden last Saturday, I received some bad news. An ex-coworker of mine and friend, Ross Taylor, was killed in a car accident along with one of his friends, Kara Patejak. I never knew Kara, but Ross and I worked together for quite a while at Bickel's Cycling & Fitness. He would join the group of us that went on night rides after work occasionally. Both Ross and Kara were extraordinary people. They were both extremely caring and nice. It's sad to see them go, but I know they have gone to a better place. Though their lives were short lived (Ross was 18 and Kara 17), I know they both lived life to the fullest. My thoughts and condolences go out to both families and friends. Rest in peace Ross and Kara!

That's all for now. Look for an update of the weekends races later on. Thanks for reading!
