Bikes, Movies, etc.

Tonight I went to New Belgium Brewery for a "bike-in" movie night. It was pretty fun. I was amazed at how many people showed up. There were lots of bikes. Definitely planning on making this a regular occurrence. It happens every Thursday night until the end up September. To make things even better, it's only $2!

I realized I need to back it up a day. Wednesday I went on a group ride. There were probably around 50 or so riders. All men, except for myself and another gal I have been riding with some. The men's Team Kenda was well represented. A few other fasties, don't know many of the names. Two of the guys recognized my Atlas kit and asked why I was here all the way from IA City. They know Jack, the owner of Atlas Bar & Grill. Small world! Anyway, the ride started out tame, as I was warned. Once got out of town a ways, it started to heat up. A small group formed up the road. I'd say it was around 7 guys. The chase group whittled down to about 8 people. Amazingly, I was in the chase group. Given I wasn't doing much work, mainly because I couldn't get to the front. It was almost as if they didn't want me to pull through. Who knows. I kept getting behind this guy who wouldn't let me in front of him, and he wasn't even pulling through. Every time I'd go around him, he would speed up and not let me in. Ugh, frustrating! Anyway, the ride ended up being around 35 miles or so. I don't know for sure because it was an extra 16 miles round trip to get to the ride for me. So I ended up with a decent amount of miles for the day. Before we started slowing down because we were hitting town, our average was 23.5mph. Ouch. Given the ride was relatively flat (believe it or not), I still got a great workout. I hadn't had much speed work since Super Week. Made me feel a little bit better about this weekend. Anyway, I need to get some rest. Have a good weekend! I'll update after the races!
